We regret to announce the untimely death of John Wright. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him and his music. We would wish to express our deepest sympathy to Barbara his widow.
Once enjoying a high profile as a member of the Household Cavalry and then the solitary existence of a hill shepherd on the Scots Borders, John emerged as a professional singer in the early '90s and over the last 15 years his name became synonymous with 'the best' in the interpretation of contemporary folk song in the UK. He was described as 'the song-writer's singer', with his ability to pick great songs and to sing them with passionate sincerity.
At Barbara’s request, John’s Band members are continuing his tour as a tribute to him and we can promise you a most memorable and enjoyable evening.
