Lau is a formidable union of three of the finest and most innovative exponents of modern traditional music in Scotland today - Kris Drever (guitar and vocal) from Kirkwall, Orkney, already winner of The Horizon Award; Aidan O'Rourke (fiddle) from Oban, voted Instrumentalist of the Year 2006 at the Scots Trad Music Awards, and Martin Green (piano accordion). They have been nominated for 'Best Group', 'Best Album' ('Lightweights and Gentlemen') and 'Best Live Act' in this year's Radio 2 Folk Awards - a measure of their impact on the folk scene: 'For once you can believe the hype' (The Scotsman). |
