John Ward is a singer-songwriter and guitarist who began as a teenager to play in rock and pop bands until he discovered the treasures of the British folk scene. His talent was soon appreciated after the release of his first album, ‘The Shrinking World’, and he was well and truly back on the road once his family had grown up. His music is perhaps best described as ‘folk rock’ and he now plays a huge number of instruments—including blistering bodhran solos—and is accompanied by Lynne Ward and Les Woodley. Together, they present a wider repertoire of traditional and contemporary songs and tunes, particularly songs suited to chorus singing. Self-taught the musicians play guitar, bodhran, harmonica, double bass, mandolin, accordion and whistles!—really storming sets |
