Red Lion Folk Club

Granny’s Attic

This group are new to the club—highly recommended by some of our members. Cohen Braithwaite-Kilcoyne (melodeon, concertina, vocals), George Sansome (guitar, vocals) and Lewis Wood (fiddle, mandolin, vocals) are a folk trio who play with verve, energy and their own inimitable style. First coming together at secondary school in 2009 they went on to produce their debut album in 2011 (they also supported John Kirkpatrick that year at Worcester’s Huntingdon Hall) and their first full-length album ‘Better Weather’ was released in 2014. All went on to study music at university (Leeds and Southampton) and even played in the Albert Hall in 2014. After gigging in clubs and at festivals their album ‘Off the Land’ was released in 2016.They are all exceptional musicians and fine singers who play English traditional and original music—Jon Boden writes of them ‘Great tunes, great energy, great arrangements, great stuff!’.
